Kasten Spethmann

Bio

After 11 years of working in the VC world and raising Private Equity money, Kasten Spethmann decided to shift gears and bring her knowledge and connections to the Entrepreneurs. She has partnered with investors throughout New York, Dallas, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Florida, Chicago and Phoenix and the deals have been in industries ranging from software, technology and telecom to auto parts, beverages, cosmetics and much more. Through the years she has not just gained valuable information on strategic investing, but also on entering particular markets, how to create successful joint ventures and creating good exit strategies.

Kasten doesn’t want great business ideas to get stuck in someone’s garage just because the founder’s were unable to raise the money, put together the right team and create a plan to take a product or service to market. She now offers her expertise (and just as importantly her extensive rolodex) to clients in a variety of ways. It usually starts with working with a company as a consultant, helping them through the investment raise phase. This often leads to a long term position with the company as an officer or advisor on further strategic partnerships and business development.

Kasten also teaches group workshops and lectures to various organizations, associations and Universities, teaching the basics on starting a business and raising money. Kasteva Corp will soon be launching a subscription based website for entrepreneurs that aren’t at a place yet where they can afford Kasten’s one on one consulting. The website will offer video tuturials, step by step instruction, downloadable examples and other education on raising investment capital.

Kasten brings a unique perspective to the business world making her exciting and entertaining to talk and work with. Her parents are German immigrants which gave her an international view on life and business and set the stage for extensive world travel. After college, Kasten spent four years making a living as a windsurfer in remote, third world countries where she didn’t know the language or the culture. In 2004 came her biggest challenge to date when she was in a car accident that left her in a hospital for two years. Her life changing injuries cost her everything but her determination to succeed. She has since rebuilt her entire business and feels that the challenges and lessons she endured make her that much more equipped to help others become successful business owners.
